FROM YOUR CRIT COUNSELOR:
Having goals can be compared to preparing a recipe. In order to make a recipe, you need the right ingredients, workspace, utensils, equipment, time, and sometimes assistance. The final result can depend on many factors: the quality of your ingredients, how everything was prepared, the environment where you were working, whether you had help, and the challenges you encountered along the way.
An ingredient may be missing, the equipment may not work properly, or something unexpected may happen. These challenges can be compared to the obstacles we face while working toward our goals. We may need to make adjustments, find alternatives, ask for help, or try a different approach.
When looking at your goal, you need to determine what are your strengths, your skills, your challenges and your support system. Sometimes, things don’t go according to plan. Remember your goals and the way you work toward them can be changed, adjusted, or modified. There is not always one right way to reach a goal. Many different factors can influence the outcome.
While reaching your goal may bring you satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, don’t forget to enjoy the process along the way. The journey can teach you valuable lessons, help you discover strengths you didn’t know you had, and create meaningful memories.
Sometimes, the most important part of the recipe isn’t just the final dish—it’s everything you learn and experience while preparing it.
