Imagine waiting nine years to see your child take their first step; nine years of uncertainty, therapy, hope, and waiting.
Logan’s family lived through that. After just a few months of specialized care at the Children’s Rehabilitation Institute TeletonUSA (CRIT), that moment finally came.
And it wasn’t just a physical step. It was proof that, with the proper support, miracles can start to take shape. That’s why Logan is our Star of the Month for March today.
A Devastating Diagnosis, an Unshakable Hope
Since he was a baby, Logan’s condition filled his life with obstacles. He couldn’t move freely, control his body, or explore the world like other children. He was diagnosed with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease, a rare genetic condition that affects the nervous system and severely limits mobility.
His family spent years searching for a way forward—without clear answers, with slow, frustrating progress.
But none of that dimmed Logan’s energy or his love of learning. He’s always been a bright, strong, and vibrant child. He needed the right place and team to help him thrive.
Everything Changed When He Arrived at CRIT
Just a few months after starting therapy at CRIT, Logan began to reach milestones that once seemed impossible.
Physical Therapy
In only a short time at CRIT, Logan has made life-changing progress.
He has strengthened his legs, gained better head control, and learned to coordinate essential movements for daily life.
Most importantly, he can now take steps forward with support.
After nine years of waiting, that first step was a decisive victory—for Logan, his family, and everyone who has walked this journey with them.
Occupational Therapy
Grasping and releasing a toy may seem simple. But for Logan, it’s a huge milestone.
His hands now respond with more control, and he can visually track and intentionally interact with objects. That means he can finally play on his own.
Thanks to his therapy sessions, he no longer watches play from the sidelines.
Now, he gets to be part of it. Every day.
Speech Therapy
After just a few months of therapy at CRIT, Logan has made exciting progress in communication and feeding.
With support from his therapists, he’s now more vocal—especially when using his Passy Muir valve, which helps him express himself more clearly.
He’s also begun accepting new tastes and textures, which is important for his health, nutrition, and independence.
As a sign of his growing confidence and motivation, he loves recording videos for his YouTube channel.
Talking, expressing himself, exploring the world—these things are becoming more and more possible thanks to his care at CRIT.
